The note book can be accessed from the left hand side of the car and contains all of the clues you have collected in your current game as well as some initial information about the ancients.
Clues are found randomly in Dungeons, they generally link a God with a rune, color or responsibility. At the end of a dungeon, or immediately after completing it, one will find a significant clue revealing a piece of the banishment ritual, or information regarding the invading god's identity, generally revealing a god who isn't invading.
